Cultural Safari {10 Days / 9 Nights}
DAY
1: ARRIVAL NAIROBI
Arrival
Nairobi airport on board your flight. Met and greeted
with our 'traditional style' welcome and escorted
to a city hotel of your choice by African Propoor
Tourism Development Centre (APTDC) staff. Afternoon
is spent on a Nairobi city orientation sightseeing
tour including a visit to the Kibera Slums one of
the biggest slum in the Sub-Saharan Region
This evening, a safari briefing is conducted by your
tour manager in readiness for your upcoming safari.
Overnight Stay at Norfolk Hotel. [Bed & Breakfast]
DAY 2: RIUKI CULTURAL CENTRE
After breakfast, drive to Riuki Cultural Centre which
is a traditional village started for the purpose of
creating awareness of the themes and practices of
the people of central Kenya. It is involved in providing
information relating to the traditional life styles,
architecture, food, drinks, material culture and dances.
Later return to Nairobi and have a free afternoon.
Overnight and dinner at Norfolk Hotel. [B&B]
DAY 3:- ABERDARE NATIONAL
PARK
Early breakfast, then drive north towards the slopes
of Aberdare arriving at Aberdare country Club (your
base hotel) in time for lunch. Afternoon transfer
to Ark - a tree hotel for an afternoon tea, later
dinner and overnight game viewing at the natural salt-lick
and flood-lit water hole. The is an underground photograph
hide', which gives you a unsurpassed view of big wild
game at very close quarters.
KINDLY
NOTE: Owing to the limited size of the
cabins, only a small overnight bag is permitted in
the tree hotels. The rest of the luggage is safely
left at the base hotel to be retrieved the following
morning. Children under the age of 7 year are not
permitted in the tree hotels. The Ark [Full Board].
DAY 4:- SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the base
hotel to rejoin with your driver guide and drive through
the semi-arid area of northern KENYA, meet the Pastoralist
Samburu people as they graze their cattle and goats.
Cross the Equator and arrive at Samburu Serena Lodge
in time for lunch. Take an afternoon game drive in
search of the lions, elephants and crocodiles in the
river. Overnight stay at Samburu Serena Lodge. [Full

DAY 5:- SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
Full day viewing the big game and the rare species
associated with the Northern Kenya; Reticulated giraffe,
Grevy's zebra, Beisa Oryx and Graceful gerenuk. Morning
and afternoon game drives. Later this afternoon you
will have a chance of visiting a Samburu cultural
village to see how the community live and have a chance
of intermingling with them, here you can identify
a project that you would like to initiate in collaboration
with APTDC. Overnight stay in Samburu Serena Lodge.

DAY 6:- LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK
Depart for Lake Nakuru bird sanctuary via the scenic
uplands road with weather permitting, panoramic views
of the Africa's Great Rift Valley 600m below with
a stop at Nyahuru to enjoy the panoramic view of Thompson
Falls. Afternoon game/bird viewing around the Lake
shores which is a seasonal home to millions of flamingoes.
Overnight stay in Sarova Lion Hill Lodge. [Full Board]
DAY 7 :- LAKE NAIVASHA
Early morning game drive in Nakuru Park then return
to the lodge for late breakfast. Depart shortly after
for Lake Naivasha arriving Elsamere Conservation Centre
in time for lunch. The Centre is the home home of
the late Joy and George Adamson who both became famous
for their conservation work. It is named after Elsa,
the lioness whose life is recounted in Joy's book
'Born Free'. After lunch, you will be invited to watch
a video, "The Joy Adamson Story" and visit
the museum and shop at the centre. Dinner and overnight
at the Centre. [Full Board]
DAY 8:- MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE
Depart after breakfast and drive to the famous Masai
Mara National Reserve arriving in time for lunch.
This is one of the most popular and spectacular game
areas in East Africa, covering an area of 14,765 square
kilometers, teaming with game. A particular feature
of the Mara is the annual migration of the wildebeest
and zebra herds. Each year, after the traditional
"short" rains in November the migration
starts when the herds amass in their thousands on
the plains below the Ngorongoro (Tanzania) highlands.
During February they move north and west following
the rains and the new grasslands, and they start to
move into the Masai Mara in July. In October they
move back to Tanzania. After an afternoon game drive
return to your lodge, overnight stay at Sarova Mara
Tented Camp. [Full Board]
DAY 9:- MAASAI COMMUNITY PROJECT
Full day in Maasai Mara, Kenya's most popular game
sanctuary where you will have the best opportunity
of spotting the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo,
rhino and elephant). Morning and afternoon game drives
with an optional hot air balloon safari at dawn. This
afternoon we will visit one of the schools supported
by African Propoor Tourism Development Centre where
you will take part in an activity aimed at helping
the school i.e. construction of a classroom or other
identified need (this can only be done with prior
arrangements). If schools are in session you can interact
with teachers/students. If time allows, a few guests
can teach 1 or 2 English lessons and there may be
a football or volleyball match with the students.
All meals and overnight at Sarova Mara Lodge. [Full

Day 10:- DRIVE BACK TO NAIROBI
AND DEPART
Depart Maasai Mara in the morning and drive back to
Nairobi arriving at Norfolk for lunch. Afternoon at
leisure/freshen up and park. Farewell dinner at The
Carnivore Restaurant then transfer to the airport
for onward flight back home. End of our services.
